Arriving on a Sunday:
Supermarkets
in general supermarkets in Italy are tiny in comparison to what you'd find on this side of the Atlantic. Italians love their produce fresh and often buy at the market and are used to stop by in different stores that specialize (meat, bakeries, cheeses) on their way from or to home. The supermarket or alimentari thus hold the complementary everyday needs.
Conad at Termini is an exception and is huge in comparison.
If you're looking for special treats to bring home start your search at Castroni delicatessen that you'll find throughout the city (better though go to a farmers market).
